Beauty Scoop: Zoya Nail Polish Review

Back in May, I bought six Zoya nail polishes because I'd heard Zoya is a high quality nail polish brand that does not use any nasty chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor. These chemicals are actually in most nail polishes.  OPI and Essie are also among the few (that I know of) that are supposed to use safer ingredients.

If you want more details about the individual nail polishes, you can click here to read about them in my haul blog, but as a refresher, here are the colors I bought:

The reason I waited so long to write a review of these is because I was really hoping to love them all.  Unfortunately I couldn't bring myself to like the Creamy and I can't say I love Skye.

Sadly, I have tried to apply Creamy several different ways and I can't get it to go on my nails without streaking. I haven't had this problem at all with the other 5 colors, in fact the other 5 colors go on better than any nail polishes I've used in the past.  I was really disappointed that Creamy was a dud because it is such a pretty summery color.

There is nothing wrong with Skye except for it doesn't look right on my skin tone. I think it's just a little too close to the color of my actual skin, or maybe I just can't pull off the nude polish look.  However, when I put my sparkly NYC clear polish on top, it is super cute. Since I'm not huge on the sparkly look, I reserve this polish (with the NYC) on days I'm feeling especially girly. I think this color would look gorgeous on someone with tan or ethnic skin.

The four colors Gaia, Jolene, Sooki, and Yummy are my favorites.  Gaia takes about three coats, but once it's dry, it's such a pretty pearly white. The other colors only take one to two coats because they're extremely opaque. If you're looking for a Barbie pink, Jolene is a very good match! I have this color on my toes right now and I love it.  Sooki is the best red I've ever owned and somehow it doesn't wash me out.  Yummy, which is what I have on my hands right now, seems to be the one I've reached for the most and it only takes one coat. I'll most likely replace these four colors when they run out.

Overall, I definitely recommend that you try Zoya.  Look out for sales like the one they had on Earth Day (free shipping and polishes were half price) so you can save some money. I personally cannot wait to try more colors!

TGIF! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for reading,

Danielle

  2. I only have one Zoya polish and I love it! My only hesitation to buy more is that I have to order it online (noone sells the range around here). I can't just pick up a color here and there like with OPI. But I might have to make an order soon to pick up Jolene & Sooki!!! GORGEOUS
